RailTubeRailTube is a system that absorbs vibrations in the ground.

In the Netherlands, vibrations in the ground are a problem, for example from a passing train. A pilot was recently carried out, financed by ProRail. Engineering firm Fugro carried out the soil research, engineering firm Movares the measurements, and TNO the modelling and calculations of the configuration.
By forming so-called inclusions vertically, a phononic crystal is created. In the pilot we demonstrate the effect of the damping.
Within the project we also test materials made of bioplastic. The tube used was produced with a very large 3D printer. By using bioplastic, we can also offer a fully organic system.
